Porsche Taycan the first all electric Porsche

The Porsche Taycan

The perfect balance between everyday usability and performance.

A new Era for Porsche

The Porsche Taycan is Porsche's first all-electric vehicle in a long line of upcoming electric models. Silencing the EV sceptics is exactly what Porsche are doing with the Porsche Taycan model.

The Taycan is a four or five seat, five door hatchback. In Turbo form it has a maximum of 671 bhp and 850 Nm torque but in Turbo-S we are looking at 750 bhp; absurdly fast, reaching 0-60 in 2.6 seconds. In terms of performance the Taycan is without a doubt top tier within the EV vehicle range.

With a 93.4 kWh battery giving it a range of 260-280 miles (with the Turbo having a slightly longer range) it can be recharged at up to 270 kW. Covering 80% in around 20mins.

In the UK there are currently several Superchargers and the number will only increase. The charging network is bound to grow with the increasing number of EV’s being pushed out per year. Changes will be and are being made to accommodate the EV revolution that is inbound with more and more chargers being pushed out on the road from numerous companies.

The driving experience of the Porsche Taycan is just as enjoyable as any other performance Porsche. There is a new digital dash that is very driver focused. The ride is good at high speeds and brilliantly controlled.

Porsche driving modes :

The Porsche Taycan has 4 driving modes. Normal, Range, Sport, Sport Plus and the option for a fully customised individual mode.

Normal: Normal mode is the default driving mode ideal for cruising and just your normal day to day commutes. The electric sports sound will not be turned on but can be switched on manually. Throttle response is slowed and shifts happen sooner, the sport exhaust valves will close and suspension is softer. The start/stop function stays active.

Range: Range mode limits the top speed focusing on the efficiency of the vehicle and optimising how far the car will go. Climate control will change to optimise the power output. The headlight’s power will change and the car will also lower for maximum aerodynamics and efficiency. The biggest adjustment will be the thermal management of the adjustment of the battery heating/cooling. Utilising the Porsche intelligent range finder (whilst in range mode) will automatically pre-heat or pre-cool the battery automatically. This feature will not be automatic within range mode if you do not have the Porsche intelligent range finder active. Without Porsche intelligent range finder active, when the user tries to use a EV car charger, it may take a moment for the charging to be at optimal speeds because the battery isn’t at the optimal temperature.

Sport: Whilst in sport mode there is no speed restriction and the electric sports sound remains off. Your suspension won’t really change (as far as how it’s going to be) It’s will remain in the standard mode. These options can be changed if you wish. The Porsche Taycan in sport mode is extremely responsive and the battery cooling and heating will regulate to keep it at a temperature for optimal performance whilst in sport mode.

Sport Plus: Sport Plus is not recommended for the road, the sport plus is optimised for speed! In this mode you will see the lowering of the car, turning the dampers into the sportiest setting and turning on the electric sports sound. Regulating the battery, the best it can with efficiency going out the window focusing on optimising speed.

The standard modes are fully customisable using the individual mode.

Individual: The individual mode is where you can have your own fully customisable driving experience. Catered to you and your lifestyle where you can make changes to the suspension level, electric sport sound, drive mode and more.

Is the Porsche Taycan for you?

Coming in at nearly £140,000 in Turbo S form may not be quite the proposition for some. But if you’re thinking of getting your own be sure to come to us here at Car-Charger.UK for your EV charger Installation.
