The Ioniq 5

"Power your world" - Hyundai

Based on the Hyundai 45 concept that was based on the Pony 1974 coupe concept. The Ioniq 5 has a unique, distinctive look with some cool features that make the vehicle more than just your average electric vehicle.

A futuristic yet retro electric vehicle exterior

The Ionic 5 features Hyundai's first clamshell bonnet giving the vehicle a clean sleek look on the front. One of the coolest parts of this electric vehicle, perhaps the most noticeable is the headlights with 256 cubic pixels. The front and rear lights give an old-school retro 8-bit arcade game feel that I am personally a massive fan of. With no traditional grill along the front, the space is used to house various sensors and active air vents at the bottom. On the sides of the vehicle are lines that almost look like they have been slashed and carved out by a swordsman, almost like a Zorro "Z" marking. The vehicle has flush door handles that pop out when approaching the vehicle. On the back, there is no windscreen wiper however, Hyundai claims the car's aerodynamics will take care of that. The wheel's design is also very interesting and quite eye-catching at 20" inches. The Ioniq 5 is available in 9 exterior colours so you won't be short on options there.

Is the inside of this electric vehicle just as futuristic as the outside?

The inside of the electric vehicle may feel even more futuristic than the outside. With two 12.5ich screens joined together along with the dashboard that almost resembles the Kia EV6 and Mercedes vehicles. One screen will display your digital driver information whilst the other works as your infotainment system. There is a head-up display that includes your speed limit, current speed, and navigation information all projected onto the windscreen in an augmented reality fashion. As well as some high-tech equipment the Ioniq 5 comes with a lot of adjustment features. The centre console slides forward and back allowing you to open up more space in the front for potential storage, or to just simply adjust the armrest. The two front seats also recline almost entirely flat. The back seats don't recline and become armchairs quite like the front two seats however, they do slide back and forward allowing for a lot of leg room.

How practical is this electric vehicle?

The Ioniq 5 does not fall short in the practicality department. With 5 USB ports, wireless phone charging, and 540 litres of boot space.

An additional 24 litres of boot space in the front trunk for the all-wheel-drive or 57 litres for the rear-wheel-drive option. One of the coolest features of the Ioniq 5 is the V2L system. V2L (Vehicle to load) allows you to power external electrical devices using the car's battery. V2L can be used via the vehicle charging port or the 3-pin socket at the feet of the backseats. The V2L system allows for 3.6-kilowatt charging so you can power numerous devices. In fact, you can even charge other electric vehicles. The Ioniq 5 also comes with self-driving features, by simply using the buttons on the car key you can summon the vehicle and even let it park itself.
