Lotus Eletre

the most aggressive electric vehicle SUV we have seen so far

t

Eletra, the Hungarian word meaning “coming to life”. Perfect for a company taking its first step into the currently booming SUV market.

What to expect from Lotus’s First Electric SUV

Lotus is renowned for its sports and racing cars so you can be assured that this SUV will be fast. However, this vehicle measures approximately weighs in over 2 tones is 5 meters long, 1.6 meters high, and over 2 meters white. Not the traditional Lotus lightweight mantra Lotus says with a battery more than 100-kilowatt-hours incapacity. This vehicle’s electric motors will output at least 600 horsepower to all four wheels. There will be three versions scaling in efficiency and performance. Lotus engineers are targeting a 0-62 in less than 3 seconds, a top speed of over 160 miles an hour, and a max range of 350 miles.

Electric Vehicle Futuristic design and tech

The overall design of this electric vehicle feels very futuristic. A lot like the Polestar Precept just with a bigger more aggressive look.

The front end of this electric vehicle has a super aggressive look similar to the Lamborghini Urus. Multiple vents on the bonnet and front face of the vehicle tunnel air through the vehicle and over the wheels. All these vents will help minimize drag further improving the range of this electric vehicle. In fact, there are vents along the front that will open when needed to help cool the battery. Daytime headlights on the bonnet of the vehicle somewhat resemble a sort of boomerang shape to add to that aggressive look. The main headlights are deep in the front end of the vehicle alongside the vents of the vehicle.

The side of the vehicle is not as dramatic as the front design. There are still vents along the side further reducing drag. As standard, the vehicle will come with 21-inch wheels with upgradable options. The handles are automated and will come out when needed keeping the side design of the vehicle flush. The handles will also come with an option to upgrade with led lights if you’re into that.

The back design has even more vents following the theme of this electric vehicle. Along the top, there are two winglets instead of one full-length roof spoiler. However, there is a pop-up spoiler that will appear when driving at certain speeds.

The Lotus SUV is not an electric vehicle that just feels futuristic from the outside.

The interior really makes you feel like you’re in a futuristic vehicle. Ambient lighting with many color-changing options is controlled by a super sleek infotainment screen. A thin digital drivers display is just behind the wheel with only the key information as there will be an additional heads-up display. You can get the option to have the same thin digital driver display with key information for the passenger seat as well.

How practical is this Electric SUV?

As a result of this being Lotus’s first SUV, you may expect it not to tick all the boxes for practicality but it’s an SUV right, so it’s meant to be practical.

The backseats don’t falter in comparison to the front seats in terms of design. Some may even prefer to sit in the backseat. After all reclining seats do sound quite enticing. Comfortability is of utmost importance when on long journeys. There is also plenty of leg and headroom as expected of an SUV.

There are wireless charging compartments in both the front and backseat. In addition, this electric vehicle is fitted with a KEF sound system so everyone can stay entertained.

For some storage space is the most important thing when it comes to their SUV. In this electric vehicle, you’re looking at 400L of boot space (roughly the same as Ford Mustang Mach-E GT 402L) and an additional 70L under the bonnet. Speaking of practicality this electric vehicle supports autonomous driving. Nothing to get too excited about if you live in the UK. As completely self-driving cars are not yet legal on the roads of the UK.
