The Polestar 2

"Minimalist design.  Powerful performance. " - Polestar

You may notice that this Polestar vehicle resembles that of some Volvo vehicles, but there is a reason for that. Polestar was Volvo’s performance arm, but Volvo was bought by Geely a giant Chinese car company. Geely now has Polestar focus solely on the production of electric vehicles therefore you may notice some similarities between Polestar and Volvo.

What is the design of this electric vehicle like?

The design point of this Vehicle does really sell it in our opinion. However, this just may be the reason why people may choose it over alternative vehicles like the Tesla Model S. The design is familiar to past Volvo vehicles with their signature Thor’s hammer headlights the car’s design is based on a Volvo concept hence why it has a grill.

Electric vehicles don’t in fact need a grill, but Polestar has opted to use this area to house this vehicle’s sensors/radars. The Polestar 2 itself is based on the Volvo xc40 platform hence why the vehicle is tall. The interior design is sleek and minimalized but not too much that it feels boring. The quality of the materials feels soft and of a good standard not cheap or lacking in some areas. The quality of material only differs in the lower parts of the car but it isn’t too noticeable.

How practical is this electric vehicle?

The Polestar 2 comes with an Infotainment system developed by Android so you can be sure it works well. The infotainment system has voice control that allows you to turn on/off fans, play music, and more. The front of the vehicle is decent when talking about practicality. There are two USB charging ports, The glove box is standard, and the car door bins are a decent size, the armrest is adjustable and comes with cupholders under the lid.

The backseats have good legroom but not too much headroom and those over 6’0 may have to slouch down slightly. There are two USB ports in the back, a fold-down armrest with cupholders for both passengers, and two ISOFIX points.

The boot comes standard with a no hands-opening feature just swiping your feet under the boot will open it. There’s also a button by the steering wheel that will open the boot, or you can just use the key. The boot comes in at 405L of space a little less than the Tesla model.

If you’re looking for a more practical family electric vehicle, consider getting an electric SUV. We have written multiple articles on electric SUVs such as The Mustang Mach – E and The Skoda Enyag.

Range and performance of this Electric Vehicle

The Polestar 2 Comes with two electric motors one in the front axle and one in the rear so you have 4-Wheel Drive. Combined the two electric motors will produce 408 horsepower, 660 Newton meters of torque, and does 0.60 in 4.7seconds. This electric vehicle has a claimed range of 292 miles, but some real-world tests have shown that you could be looking at 230 miles.
